Sure, they've played almost every bar between San Francisco and Santa Cruz, but Sunday's Taken is more than just a background band for the cheap beer-drinking crowd. Self-produced and self-written, their second CD, Tangle has none of the affectations of label-affiliated, studio-produced bands. The core rhythm section, Jon Spivak, Eric Satzman, and Mark Randall have been playing together for several years. Soaring over their tight arrangements are the sultry vocal stylings of Livia Monteleone. Mix in Andrew Reynolds on percussion, and you get Sunday's Taken: a modern rock band with a funky home-grown sensibility.
